I was in my hometown of Irving, Texas a week and a half ago, and while I was there, I got to photograph one of my favorite families. I first met Natalie in middle school when we were both in the school play together, and she became one of my best friends. Over the next few years through high school graduation our families had become super close.
It's been a surreal experience watching this family grow (literally, Dalton used to be a lot shorter than me and now I stand on my tippy toes to hug him) and evolve over the last fifteen years. In 2009, I was touched when Natalie asked me to photograph her and her soon-to-be husband, David. They were a couple of my first clients, and I had so much fun taking their pictures. A couple of years ago they added a new addition to their cute little family: a sweet and handsome Australian Shepherd named Van (definitely one of my new favorite clients).
I've never known a tighter knit family than that of the Jenkins (and now Shurleys), nor one as kind hearted and welcoming. It's been an absolute pleasure seeing this beautiful and talented family accomplish so much throughout the years, and I was truly honored to be able to see and photograph them again. I look forward to seeing how much more the family will grow and all the wonderful things they are going to do over the next fifteen years.
