Last Friday, I had the pleasure of photographing the Challenge Walk MS for the fifth season in a row. I always look forward to the fall and seeing all the spirited and enthusiastic participants, mostly repeat walkers, gathering together to raise money to find a cure for multiple sclerosis. This year was particularly fun and exciting for me as the theme for the Challenge Walk was pirates!
Not only did many of the participants dress up as swashbucklers and buccaneers, but each group of volunteers decorated their respective rest stops with pirate flags, treasure chests, and chocolate "gold coins."
Participants of the Challenge Walk walk 50 miles over three days, traveling from Flower Fields in Carlsbad along the coast all the way to San Diego. This year, they raised nearly $620,000!
In addition to the Challenge Walk that happens every September, there's the Walk MS every spring, Bike MS (which I have the pleasure of shooting again this year) every October, and the MS Dinner Auction.
