I love meeting new people, especially small business owners like myself, but with everything that's going on in the world, it's hard to go out and form natural connections with people. So I, like many others, have been learning to adapt and turning to the internet and social media to find new people to connect with.
Last week, I met and photographed Janelle. She's a wonderful young woman and a travel advisor. After being laid off from her job this spring, she decided to commit her time and energy to her small business. She was looking for new head shots for her website and Instagram, and found me with a Google search.
We met in Carlsbad Village at a local donut shop, The Goods on State Street, and we bonded over our love of travel and talked about how we are both handling these crazy times. We talked about what kind of shots she was looking for. The Goods had some great window light and cozy nooks for some cute photos with her laptop and enjoying her dirty chai.
Then we stepped outside and took advantage of the fun storefronts as backgrounds. (I mean, her shirt was a perfect match for the pink paneling of this shop.) And there's a great spot along Grand Avenue that's lined with gorgeous trees that transports you out to the Bayou (first photo).
The travel industry is a little rocky right now, but Janelle is optimistic, looking towards the future. People are already booking epic adventures and honeymoons for 2021 and 2022, so there are opportunities to help travelers plan their dream vacations.
With her bright and engaging personality, I have no doubt that Janelle will navigate these stormy waters.
